City of Dawson Creek Council Chamber

Dawson Creek, BC

The City of Dawson Creek, a beautiful municipality located in northeastern British Columbia, Canada, contracted Applied Electronics to design, supply, and install a new conferencing and live streaming system in their council chamber, which allows the Mayor and councilors to deliver more transparency to citizens.

The new system facilitates the recording and publishing of meetings with ease, making council sessions more accessible for everyone in Dawson Creek. The on-demand recordings live on the City's website and YouTube page.

Applied Electronics Implements New Conferencing and Live Streaming System in City of Dawson Creek Council Chamber.

The council chamber at Dawson Creek now features a Televic uniCOS discussion system, which allows for easy and effective communication between all members of the council, as well as opportunity to engage with remote and in-person members of the public during council meetings.

Ease-of-use of the system as well as the security of the content produced were key focuses in the design of the solution delivered.

A Barco ClickShare wireless presentation system is used to share content in the council meetings, as it provides easy user interface, scalability, and security, making it a reliable solution for government meeting spaces.

The system uses a Epiphan Pearl Mini live video production system, and a Vaddio AV Bridge Mini to encode, capture and stream content that can be scaled up to 4K resolution, while offering conferencing capabilities.

Everyone can feel heard.

Televic uniCOS discussion system is a great way to stay organized and maintain system control during meetings. It is a server / client-based database-driven module that contains several applications to support the preparation and administrative processes before meetings, and enable control during the meeting.

Televic CoCon Voting module offers the ability to manage council and committee voting sessions, as well as enables voting topic administration with the possibility of easily adding voting items to agenda topics.

Televic CoCon Signage meeting management software shows meeting information such as title of the meeting, meeting timer, speaker list, voting results, on display monitors throughout the council chamber to get everyone in the room up to speed.

Additionally, digital ID badges were deployed for each council member to allow easy identification within the production system, giving members the freedom to sit where they preferred, and the ability to modify seating arrangements, if necessary. In addition, to create a more engaging viewing experience, the Mayor and councillors can be heard clearly and seen in focus using Televic T-CAM automatic conference camera tracking technology.

Enabling effective communication between all members of the council and public.

The audio system was upgraded with a Biamp TesiraFORTÉ digital audio server, a Lab Gruppen commercial amplifer, and pro ceiling loudspeakers.

A Crestron system controls all of the AV assets in the council chamber, including the BirdDog PTZ cameras, as well as the streaming capabilities. This makes it easy for citizens to stay informed of council discussions no matter where they are.

The system upgrade in the City of Dawson Creek's council chamber was completed in Spring 2022.
